Dear Delegates,
I am excited to welcome you to the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) of ILMUNC! My name is Moe Mansour, and as the co-chair, I look forward to guiding you through engaging and impactful discussions that explore various aspects of crime prevention and criminal justice. The CCPCJ, as one of the key bodies of the United Nations, focuses on addressing criminal justice systems, crime prevention, and transnational issues that affect global security and the rule of law. Ensuring the safety and well-being of communities around the world requires collective action and effective collaboration between international and regional organizations. These entities play a critical role in strengthening the frameworks for combating crime, terrorism, and ensuring justice.
Key topics we will explore include cybersecurity in political elections, a critical area in today’s digital age where the integrity of electoral processes must be safeguarded from cyber threats. Additionally, we will address the treatment of children associated with terrorist groups, an urgent issue that requires a balanced approach between ensuring justice and providing rehabilitation to these vulnerable individuals. I am eager to hear your innovative ideas and insights on these pressing topics.
A little bit about me, I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences studying neuroscience and economics. I’m an international student from Beirut, Lebanon, and participated in my high school’s Model UN club. This will be my first conference that I have helped to plan with ILMUNC and hope that you all have an enriching and valuable experience! Outside of ILMUNC, I am on Penn Student Government, the Undergraduate Assembly. I love walking and skiing and try to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible! Jake, Nicole, and I are all looking forward to working with you in the CCPCJ committee. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding the committee.
